SPEECH TEXT 1 "The Importance of Mastering English"

Assalamualaikum wr.wb

Good afternoon

The very first, I would like to give my greatest thanks to Allah the Almighty, who always gives us mercies and blessings so we can be here now in our best condition and Then,  Sholawat and salaam to Prophet Muhammad SAW, our messenger who has leaded us from darkness to this bright life. Honorable, the lecturer of English Public Speaking Mr. Abdul Arif, M.Pd

And also, the last but not least to all of my beloved friends from the best class the anchore class.

In this special opportunity I would like to bring my speech about “the importance of mastering English”.

Ladies and gentlemen,

Why Mastering English is very important? I have two big reasons for you. The first, English is universal or International language. It is estimated that the number of people in the world that use in English to communicate on a regular basis is 2 billion! Just imagine, through English we will be able to communicate with other people from different countries. Recently, I have just got a friend from California, his name is Abdul Kumar. He was born in India but now, he lives in California to finish his graduate-post. We communicate using Skype. Do you know Skype? I like to talk with him because he has a very special accent. I give you one example he said, How are you brother Chan?, It is very nice too meet you on internet. I am from India. Are you from Indonesia? Wow, that’s cool buddy, fantastic. This is what I mean, English is an international language to express ourselves, to get more friends, to learn new cultures, to increase our knowledge.

Ladies and gentlemen,

The second reason, by mastering English we can study abroad freely! Does anyone here want to study abroad, Very good. If you want to study abroad you must master English from now on. Both in speaking and writing. I have a friend named Deny he is from Riau. After finishing his Graduate-post from IKIP Padang, he wanted to study abroad in Australia. But he did not have money. Then, he decided to send his academic Essay to one of University in Australia. After 3 weeks, he got information on his Email that he could continue his study freely in Australia. Amazing right? If you really want to study abroad mastering English from now.. It is not impossible, you and I are same. The only one makes us different is in our work hard. So if they can, absolutely we can do the same or better than that.

Finally, I hope my speech can open your eyes and your mind that mastering English is very important. I strongly believe through mastering English we will get a better life and better future. Thank you very much for your nice attention. Good afternoon and wassalamualaikum wr.wb
